In our last blog post, we explored the main screen, cables, and ports of KEY TOOL MAX PRO, providing a solid foundation for understanding its capabilities. 

Now, we're excited to dive deeper into its remarkable features through the KEY TOOL MAX PRO screen! Join us as we uncover the powerful functionalities of KEY TOOL MAX PRO.


  1   - Middle Menu Options

🔸Immo Programming🔸

With a dedicated remote ready or after generating one, you can connect KEY TOOL MAX PRO to the vehicle via the OBD port to program a new key.

This function supports a wide range of models, including Alpha Romeo, Honda, Citroen/DS, Cadillac, and Chevrolet, as well as the latest KFD types, without the need for additional adapters. Only a few complex vehicles may not be supported.

Additionally, KEY TOOL MAX PRO can automatically read PIN codes for certain vehicles.

For example, it can read the PIN code of Buick and we can see that there is an option [read the PIN code].

🔸Remote Program🔸

KEY TOOL MAX PRO supports:

  • generating remote for over 6000 vehicle remotes of 200 car brands worldwide;
  • generating garage remotes for over 100 models.

🔸Remote Clone🔸

While most car remotes do not support direct cloning, the [Remote Clone] feature is effective for simpler remotes, like garage remotes. Remote types that can be cloned include:

  • Type A: fixed code (PT2240, LX918, etc.)
  • Type B: HCS300 rolling code with manufacturer password
  • Type C: A few other special UNDEF remotes

For Types A and B, use the [HCS/Fixed Code Clone] option. For Type C, enter the [Special Clone] option, which allows cloning regardless of code type, though the cloned data may not always be usable. 

The [Remote Cloud Recognition] feature helps identify remotes, collect the remote data, and display its information. However, the results are for reference only due to database limitations and other reasons.

🔸Transponder Clone🔸

If you have a key, simply use the transponder clone function. After identifying the original car key, you'll be directed to the [Clone] page, showing the supported transponder types. 

Some keys, like [ID48 (96 bit) online calculation], will display a little car and a key icon at the right, indicating that this key needs to be cloned near the car, which means that data needs to be collected on the car.

The options without the blue car icon are types that do not require to collect data on the car and can be directly cloned with a new key.

In addition, some of these options must be cloned online, while others can also be cloned offline. As long as the network is connected, all options can be cloned. Notably, the transponder clone requires the Xhorse super transponder XT27A.

🔸Generate Transponder🔸

When all keys are lost, you need to generate the corresponding transponder by selecting the appropriate option.

For example, if the car is 46 type, we need to enter the [Generate Transponder], and then select the [ID46(PCF7936)] to generate.

Some cars can be generated using a blank 46 transponder, so we can choose the [New 7936 chip].

Some cars have dedicated transponders and we must enter a dedicated 46, i.e., the corresponding 46 option to generate.

🔸Immo Data Tool🔸

For some vehicles whose keys are all lost and OBD fails to communicate, you can obtain their IMMO data by removing and reading the IMMO box or ECU chip, loading the data into MAX PRO by [Immo Data Tool], and directly generating a working key to start the vehicle.

You can use Xhorse's cloud storage (http://i.xhorse.com/) for easy file management, allowing you to upload and download necessary files.

🔸TPMS🔸

KEY TOOL MAX PRO has the potential to achieve tire pressure related functions, stay tuned!

🔸Special Function🔸

[Maintenance]: The basic function of an OBD device. For example, you can use it for diagnosing fault codes and clearing them, resetting the oil gauge, resetting the mileage, programming headlamps, and other simple functions.

[Remote cloud recognition]: Identify the chip type of the remote in the case that we don't know the car model. You can roughly get an idea of its chip type.

[Remote renew]: Some original remotes cannot be used a second time after being used. In this case, you need to renew them. After renewing the remote, it becomes a brand-new original key again and can be programmed into various vehicles.

Note that you need to connect a renew cable or use a remote renew adapter when using this function.


[IC/D clone]:  Used to clone common IC cards or ID cards.

[Leakage detection and voltage detection]:  Used for leakage detection and voltage detection of remote quickly. It requires you to use with Leakage Detection Cable.

[VVDI remote function]: When you need to identify the type of remote, customize the smart key to change the button type, [VVDI remote function] is useful.

These functions are mainly for Xhorse remotes, including query remote usage record, repair calibration, failure detection, Toyota smart key setting, especially some settings of buttons of Toyota remote and some modifications to its frequency.

[Ignition switch coil signal detection]: If you don't know the type of vehicle remote transponder, you can put the collection antenna of the device close to the ignition switch and turn the key several times. Then the device will identify the type of vehicle remote transponder.

Sometimes when a vehicle cannot be started with the original remote, you can also use this method to determine whether the coil has sent out an immo signal, thereby determining the reason why the vehicle cannot be started.

[Remote charge battery]: Used for old-type BMW EWS series models with rechargeable keys. These rechargeable keys usually use a button battery inside.

[Unlock Toyota smart key]: It is similar to the [Remote renew] function. But the difference between them is [Unlock Toyota smart key] doesn't require any cable, just battery and remote.

Please note that only after the remote light flashes, the remote is successfully unlocked, otherwise it fails.

[Honda cycle key renew]:  It's only designed for Honda motorbikes. Put the transponder into the coil position to read and then unlock.

[8E remote upgrade/unlock]: This function is mainly for 8E remotes made by Xhorse, which can be used to upgrade and unlock 8E remotes.

[Mazda ID49 smart key light repair]: It's acknowledged that the Mazda 49 key has a special feature. If the original remote is a two-button remote, then you may be able to program it with a three-button remote.

However, after successful programming with the car start function, there will be a light display on the instrument. You can fix the light display with this function.

[Smart key password calculation]: For some models, their programming password can be directly calculated by collecting the vehicle's data.

[Set type of VVDl super remote]: Used to set XT27 transponder as different types. As there is [Generate transponder] option on the main screen of the device with the same usage, this special function is used less frequently.

[Set type of VVDI wireless remote]: Used for XN series wireless remote.

[Remote test function]: Used for online remote test and modification between Xhorse engineers and customers.

You can use it to collect the frequently-used options and other things so that they can be found quickly.

  2   - Bottom Menu Options

🔸AI🔸

AI icon is to scan the vehicle's VIN number. For certain vehicles, vehicle info can be obtained after scanning yet some vehicle info is not available.

🔸Update🔸

[Data update]: Includes system update, app update, firmware update and database update.

[Device synchronization]: Used to synchronize device data online every once in a while.

[Activation list]: In this interface, you can see the function activation list of this device.

[Update log]: Shows recent updates on this device.

🔸History🔸

What operations this device has done will be recorded here. For example, the remote options you've generated, the remote options you've renewed, and the transponder options you've generated, etc.

🔸Device Info🔸

[Device]: Here you can bind devices to your account and view the info such as versions, and bound account.

[License]:  Contains license info.​ For example, you can check the activation status of the 96-bit 48 function.

  3   - Button "More"

Back to the main screen and let's take a look at it here.

The red button [More] is used for points collection.

After a period of work to generate remotes, hit this button to synchronize the points data and collect the points.
